Founder Rich Johnson has been recording, producing, editing, marketing, duplicating and distributing audio copies of Bar Association legal seminars since 1978. Versatape was founded in September, 1983 in Pasadena, CA.
Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) refers to the approved continuing legal education required of California attorneys. Attorneys are required to complete a total of 25 hours of approved credit every three years. MCLE compliance covering all 25 hours can be earned listening to MCLE approved audio programs. Specifics of the requirements are as follows:
A minimum of thirteen of the twenty-five hours required in a three year cycle must be designated as “Participatory” credit. A maximum of twelve hours may be earned as “Self-Study” credit. Six of the required twenty-five hours (either participatory or self-study) must offer special subfield credit as follows: Four hours of legal ethics programs, one hour of the Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession program, and one hour of the Prevention of Substance Abuse program.
The MCLE audio program offered through Versatape qualify for all 25 hours of credit. The seminars are recorded at San Fernando Valley Bar Association (California MCLE Approved Provider #451) and recorded at Pasadena Bar Association (California MCLE Approved Provider #531) seminars.
